This evening I was driving my daughter to her doctors appointment and being menaced by a very large SUV. Tailgating other drivers and so on, Being a typical jackass. As I watched in the rear view mirror, the SUV's rear axel broke in half. The right rear wheel and most of axel slowly emerged, broke all the way off and started spinning through the air. The SUV settled onto what was left of the rear suspension in a shower of sparks. I really hope everyone was okay. Really friggin scary.

Re: Scary SUV moment
Sun, November 6, 2005 - 10:10 PMI honestly don't understand why some people have the need to drive so agressively. This is especially dangerous in SUVs -- they have a high center-of-gravity, and they're quite prone to flipping over. They're also quite heavy, so they can't stop as quickly as a car. Amazing.
I'm glad you are okay.
